A tribute to Stevie Nicks en Christine McVie

Stevie Nicks behoeft eigenlijk geen introductie. Vanaf het moment dat de zangeres zich in 1973 aansloot bij Fleetwood Mac groeide zij uit tot de absolute superster die zij vandaag de dag nog steeds is. Met haar songs ‘Landslide’, ‘Rhiannon’ en ‘Dreams’ gaf ze de band een nieuwe impuls en een succesvolle solocarrière ‘Edge of Seventeen’ kon daarna niet uitblijven.

Op Fleetwood Mac’s grootste succesalbum ‘Rumours’ was het echter niet Stevie Nicks, maar die andere frontvrouw van Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie, die de meeste nummers afleverde. Denk aan ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Oh Daddy’, ‘You Make Loving Fun’ en natuurlijk ‘Songbird’. De onlangs overleden McVie was al vanaf de bluesdagen betrokken bij Fleetwood Mac en ontwikkelde zich langzaam maar zeker tot een begenadigd songwriter en vocaliste en als de ‘lijm’ van Fleetwood Mac.

Het is hoog tijd voor een eerbetoon aan de twee grande dames van Fleetwood Mac. Na meer dan 150 voorstellingen met livedocumentaire van ‘The Incredible Story’ zijn The Cosmic Carnival & Friends nu toe aan een volgend Fleetwood Mac avontuur: ‘Gold Dust Women’!

Stevie Nicks needs no introduction. From the moment the singer joined Fleetwood Mac in 1973, she became the absolute superstar she still is today. With her songs ‘Landslide,’ ‘Rhiannon’ and ‘Dreams,’ she gave the band a new impulse, followed by a successful solo career, which included the famous song ‘Edge of Seventeen.’

However, it wasn’t Stevie Nicks who sang most songs on Fleetwood Mac's biggest success album ‘Rumours,’ but Christine McVie, the other lead singer of the band. She sang e.g. ‘Don't Stop,’ ‘Oh Daddy,’ ‘You Make Loving Fun,’ and of course ‘Songbird.’ McVie, who passed away in 2022, has been involved with Fleetwood Mac since their blues days and slowly developed into a gifted songwriter and vocalist. She was the ‘glue’ that kept Fleetwood Mac together.

It is high time for a tribute to the two great ladies of Fleetwood Mac. After more than 150 shows with the live documentary ‘The Incredible Story,’ The Cosmic Carnival & Friends are now ready for a brand new Fleetwood Mac adventure: ‘Gold Dust Women!’
