Dire Straits (1977-1995) was een Britse rockband met als veruit bekendste lid zanger-gitarist-songwriter en frontman Mark Knopfler. De band kenmerkte zich door het onmiskenbare karakteristieke gitaarspel en ‘vertellende’ stem van Knopfler. In 1995 heeft hij de band verlaten om verder te gaan als soloartiest. De band BOOM, like that! heeft haar sporen ruimschoots verdiend in de Nederlandse theaters. Al meer dan tien jaar trekt de 7-koppige band volle zalen en weet keer op keer het publiek te verrassen met een sound die akelig dicht in de buurt komt bij die van Dire Straits.

In deze show is, naast de muziek van Dire Straits, aandacht voor het prachtige repertoire van Mark Knopfler. De voorstelling begint met het beste solowerk uit de periode van na 1995 met hits zoals ‘What it is’ en ‘Sailing to Philadelphia’. Daarna gaat BOOM, like that! verder terug in de tijd met de muziek van Dire Straits. Wie kent de nummers niet? ‘Sultans of Swing’, ‘Brothers in Arms’, ‘Telegraph Road’, ‘Money for Nothing’ en nog veel meer passeren de revue!

The band was characterized by Knopfler's unmistakable characteristic guitar playing and 'narrative' voice. In 1995 he left the band to continue as a solo artist. De band BOOM, like that! has more than made her mark in Dutch theaters. The 7-piece band has been packing full houses for more than ten years and has managed to surprise the audience time and time again with a sound that comes eerily close to that of Dire Straits.

In addition to the music of Dire Straits, this show focuses on the beautiful repertoire of Mark Knopfler. The performance starts with the best solo work from the post-1995 period with hits such as 'What it is' and 'Sailing to Philadelphia'.
